The Longmont Youth Symphony is an honors orchestra committed to serving exceptional young musicians of the St. Vrain Valley and surrounding areas.
The Longmont Youth Symphony was founded in 1996 and operates as an independent 501c3 non-profit organization. The Longmont Youth Symphony is a full orchestra comprised of students from 6th grade through 12th grade. The LYS also hosts the Longmont Junior Youth Symphony, a strings only orchestra, comprised of students from 1st through 8th grade. Last year we started offering a new addition of the Longmont Wind Ensemble Program for wind/brass musicians in grades 7-9. These orchestras are honors orchestras and are open by audition. All performances take place in Boulder County and the majority of our musicians reside in Boulder County although some come from as far as Larimer and Denver Counties.
